Gaps between what is known from research evidence and what is done in clinical practice are common. The goal of the knowledge translation (KT)/implementation science field is to reduce these evidence-practice gaps to improve patient outcomes. 

This session provides participants with an introduction to knowledge translation (KT) and the Knowledge to Action cycle. This cycle was instrumental in kicking off the KT field in health in Canada. Through this highly interactive session, participants will learn:

  • How individual research studies can be condensed into a reliable and useful knowledge products

  • How knowledge products can be integrated and used in clinical and hospital practices to improve outcomes for patients and improve outcomes at HHS

Healthcare Financial Management - Part 2: Understanding Case Costing – October 2020

Part 2 of this course will focus on understanding the MIS Guidelines that all Hospitals are required to use to report to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care in terms of their financial and activity related data (external reporting), how documentation and coding classify patients into categories for costing, and how patient level Case Costing occurs using the MIS Guidelines, Ontario Case Costing Guidelines (OCCI), fiscal hospital trial balance, health records coded and abstracted information, and the hospital’s patient care tracking systems.
