INTRODUCTION TO FINANCE

This 90 minute session covers foundational concepts in finance and finance basics such as budgets, financial statements, and the importance of finance in healthcare. Together, we discuss what cost centres and FTE are, learn to use myInsights to review financial and staffing budgets, and take a look the structure of the Finance department at HHS. Through the use of both lecture-style and experiential learning, participants will develop a broader base of understanding of what their budget is, how to find it, and why it’s vital to leaders.

Who is this course for?

• HHS staff who lead Clinical & Non Clinical Healthcare Teams and are budget owners

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Several fundamental building blocks that will make your day-to-day responsibilities with regards to financial stewardship easier, more effective, and more straightforward.
• Develop an understanding of how to navigate myInsights in order to review your financial budget as well as your staffing budget.
