Introduction to Coaching for Leaders
In this practical and interactive course, you will gain the groundwork necessary to practice a “coach-approach” with members of your team. Learn to tame the “advice monster” and instead work to build your team’s capacity to solve-problems and take action themselves. This course uses a simple framework you can easily apply back on the job.
Who is this course for?
- This session is intended for formal leaders, (e.g., clinical leaders, managers, directors, and others with direct reports). Staff who are not currently in leadership roles are encouraged to explore alternative professional development opportunities available through the CFPD.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Determine when to use a coach-approach with members of your team
- Shift out of the role of advice-giver and problem-solver and support your team in developing their own confidence and problem-solving skills
- Become versed in a “coach approach” aimed at holding those you lead capable
- Learn and apply a practical coaching framework to increase focus, engagement, and impact

- Leadership Helps expand the capacity of individuals to embody leadership in their everyday.
- Communication The art of speaking, listening, observing and empathizing with each other.
- Workshop (6 hours or less) A focused learning session (or two) that explores theory and applied practice.
