Two Spirit and LGBTQ+ Positive Space Training - March 2020

The Two Spirit and LGBTQ+ Positive Space Training is a workshop designed to increase HHS’ capacity to create positive space for Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, and queer patients, staff, physicians, learners, and volunteers.

 

This interactive session will:

  • Provide an introduction to current Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ terminology and language
  • Create opportunities to discuss healthcare scenarios in a non-judgmental environment
  • Provide strategies to engage in difficult conversations
  • Illustrate the important role of an ally in creating positive space

Target Audience:

This course is open to all staff, physicians, and volunteers. We highly recommend that you attend this course with a colleague. It can be difficult to be an agent for change if you are the lone voice in your department, unit, etc.


Outcomes:

At the end of this course participants will be able to:

  • Provide positive spaces for the Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ community
  • Build skills to engage in difficult conversations regarding discrimination towards Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ folks
  • Understand the barriers to health equity for the Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ community
