The LGBTQ+ Positive Space Training workshop is designed to increase HHS’ capacity to be a welcoming space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and 2-Spirit patients, staff, physicians, learners, and volunteers.

Course Description:
The LGBTQ+ Positive Space Training workshop is designed to increase HHS’ capacity to be a welcoming space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer and 2-Spirit patients, staff, physicians, learners, and volunteers.
This interactive session will:
- Provide an introduction to current LGBTQ+ terminology and language
- Create opportunities to discuss healthcare scenarios in a non-judgmental environment
- Provide strategies to engage in difficult conversations
- Illustrate the important role of an ally in creating positive space

At the end of this course participants will be able to:
- Provide a supportive healthcare experience for the LGBTQ+ community
- Engage in difficult conversations about LGBTQ+ discrimination (i.e., homophobia, transphobia)
- Create awareness about the barriers to health equity for the LGBTQ+ community
